About Of Dr Jane Fitch
I am Dr Jane Fitch, a psychiatrist with rooms in Palmyra, Western Australia. I qualified from the University of Western Australia with an MBBS in 1987 and gained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1994. That puts thirty-eight years behind me in medicine and thirty-one as a specialist.
From 1995 to 2001 I was Clinical Director of Perth’s Psychiatric Emergency Team—long shifts, urgent calls, and the daily task of keeping people safe until the storm passed. The work sharpened my eye for risk and taught me how much a steady conversation can do in the middle of chaos.
Since 2008 I have run a solo private practice at Suites 11–12, Melville House, 25 Foss Street. I see adults from late teens to sixty, mostly with tangled problems: autism, ADHD, trauma, bipolar illness, psychosis, brain injury, chronic pain, or the lasting effects of institutional harm. I also look after Aboriginal patients, veterans, police, fire and ambulance crews, and anyone whose mind has been stretched past its limit.
My consultations start with a referral from your GP. I spend the first session mapping out what is happening, what has happened, and what you want to change. From there we settle on a plan—medication if it helps, therapy if it fits, always something you can live with day to day.
I keep my AHPRA registration current and stay inside the RANZCP professional standards. When I am not at the desk I am usually at home with family or out in the garden pulling weeds—simple things that keep the balance.
